Height Wings - Memphis TN

 Height Wings

6225 Mount Moriah Rd Extended, Memphis, TN 38115

I’ve lived in Memphis over a year now and I’m finally getting around to writing my first review since living in this food lover’s city. I’m absolutely blown away with the amounts of options these wing spots give. Dry, smoked, whole wings, party wings plus the amount of sauces these spots have are unbelievable. I’ve never seen so many options and I absolutely LOVE it! So on this review, I bring to you, Height Wings.

Height Wings is tucked into a deserted strip mall on the less crowded side of the city. I just happened to notice a brand new banner hanging up one day when I drove by so I stopped in. First impression was extremely positive. The place was clean and everyone in there was super friendly and nice to the guy that obviously wasn’t from the area. I looked over the menu, asked a couple questions about the items I had no clue about and then ordered my food. I ordered a few “honey gold” wings to get me started and was talked into some “Corn Nuggets.” That was the best appetizer I’ve ever had. Sweet little golden brown nuggets filled with sweet yellow corn that tasted like granny’s cornbread fresh out the oven! I was blown away. So after my mind was blown from that goodness, I got to the wings.

The wings were average size, cooked perfectly and tossed in the honey gold sauce. It was a very sweet sauce that actually has a legit honey taste that I really enjoyed. On a return trip, I tried a few of their wings in their “CamDolla” sauce and I’m glad I did. It’s unlike any sauce I’ve ever had before so its hard to explain. It has a bit of a kick to it and stays with you for a while afterwards. Awesome aftertaste so I didn’t mind.

There isn’t many negative things to point out except maybe the people they have taking the orders, but that’s to be expected when there’s a young person behind the counter. It’s probably her first job and its a fairly new restaurant so they’ve got to work their kinks out still. Just last night, I was getting ready write this review so I wanted to order again to make sure I knew what I was talking about. I called in what I wanted. 20 wings (honey gold) and 2 orders of corn nuggets. The girl who took my order hung up on me at the end of the call. I asked how much and how long but *click* and that was all she wrote. So I waited about 15 minutes and drove that way. Got there and she said they just started on my order. Granted, it was a busy Saturday night so I took that into consideration. The poor girl at the counter was just completely overwhelmed. All together, it took about 45 minutes to get my food. The prices are actually pretty reasonable. Definitely one of the more cost efficient wing spots I’ve found and I appreciate that about them. Still no police/EMS/military discounts though! I always have to ask about that wherever I go and its a guaranteed way to get me back in as a customer.

About the owners: Height Wings is a spinoff of the popular hookah lounge, Height Hookah Lounge. The owner, Cameron Osborne, aka CamDolla, realized that his customers would come to the lounge and wait for their wings, he sold so many wings he and his girlfriend, Nakitta Grice, opened up a wing shop after Nakitta graduated with a business degree. Nakitta is the Queen of Wings, no doubt about it. I love going there because Cam and Nakitta are so welcoming and show the best hospitality around. Nakitta is running the show there and she’s doing a fantastic job. They were very smart about doing their research on surrounding wing shops, they made their own sauce that is just out of this world.

In conclusion, I would definitely recommend going to check out the Queen of Wings at Height Wings. They’ll remember your name, put some love into the food they’re making and serve up some quality dishes. Their menu is impressive and when they recommend something to you, take their advice.
